Chalk It Up
Description: Chalk It Up! aims to empower and support the next generation of Sacramento artists through targeted art grants for young artists and the programs that inspire them. Our free Labor Day Weekend Chalk It Up! Festival at Fremont Park is our biggest event of the year, bringing people from all over the region to downtown Sacramento in celebration of chalk art, music, and community. We’ve been at it since 1991!

Volunteer Opportunities: 
February: Chalk It Up Grant Award Reception - set up & clean up, greet and assist guests, photography and social media work
April:  High School Self Portrait Show 2nd Saturday Artists' and Teachers' Reception and Award Ceremony  - set up & clean up, greet and assist guests, photography and social media work
Labor Day Weekend:  Chalk It Up! Chalk Art & Music Festival at Fremont Park in Midtown - set up and clean up, help with artists and musicians, kids activities, photography and social media work

Fairytale Town

Description: Fairytale Town is a nonprofit 2.5 acre outdoor children’s literacy museum, whose mission is to promote the imagination, education and creativity of children.

Volunteer Opportunities: Fairytale Town is looking for mature, dedicated, hard-working volunteers that would like to give back to their community. KVIE Public Television

Description: A non‐profit television station dedicated to providing quality educational programs to Northern California and the Central Valley.

Volunteer Opportunities: On‐air phone banks: groups come in during seasonal membership drives to answer phone calls and collect donations. Training is provided. Groups are 8-12 people.

Sacramento History Museum

Description: Sacramento History Museum’s mission is to explore, interpret and display the region’s history from the days before the Gold Rush to the present.

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers serve in all capacities including administrative work, assisting in museum store, special events set up/tear down, or student docent. Student docents can be gallery guides and lead museum patrons around the museum and answer questions they may have about the museum collections.

Old Sacramento Living History Program

Description: Living History volunteers are passionate about history and create re‐enactments, giving tours, and participate in events.

Volunteer Opportunities: Historical re-enactments, costume workshops, living history days, and special tours. Events take place throughout the year. Monthly meeting on the second Saturday of the month at 10am.


Old Sacramento Underground Tour

Description: The Underground Tour is an hour-long guided tour of the original level of the city.

Volunteer Opportunities: We pair every tour guide with a volunteer to accompany them on tours of the Underground spaces. Volunteers assist the tour guide and guests with microphone equipment and help keep the tour groups together while on the tour.
