About
At the start of the 2023-2024 school year, Washington Unified School District (WUSD) launched a new initiative called Community Schools. The goal of Community Schools is to improve the academic success and overall health of students and provide a range of services to students and their families, including health and wellness programs, academic support, and after-school programs.
The initiative is a unique partnership between the school district and United Way California Capital Region and is rooted in the belief that schools should be the center of the community. WUSD has a strong commitment to equity, excellence, and empowerment, and the launch of the Community Schools initiative is just one example of the district's efforts to create a more supportive and nurturing environment for all students to succeed academically and personally.
