Special Education

WELCOME TO RIVER CITY HIGH SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION

Special Education at River City High School is integrated. We have seven special education teachers, many paraeducators, and a workability coach to serve almost 200 students with special needs. Special education students at RCHS attend the majority of their classes with general education students and participate in all aspects of campus life including sports, clubs, and community service. Most special education students are working toward a diploma while some are working toward a certificate of completion (moderate/severe disabilities) or a certificate of achievement (mild/moderate disabilities).

RESOURCE PROGRAM

We are proud to announce that within our Resource Program we have our Special Education teachers co teaching in various subjects.  These teachers are supporting Special Education students who are enrolled in General Education classes and working towards a high school diploma. This has been a very successful endeavor for providing our students with the least restrictive environment. It has also provided a great opportunity for both Special Education and General Education teachers to work together as a team.
