The DESIGN, VISUAL, & MEDIA ARTS PATHWAY (VIDEO PRODUCTION) is a set of 2 courses in the Arts, Media & Entertainment industry sector.
In all Career Technical Education (CTE) courses you can expect: Rigorous Academics, Technical Mastery & Professional Skills.
The courses need to be accomplished in succession with a C- or better in the capstone course in order to be considered a pathway completer. Additional participation in the Career Technical Student Organization: International Thespian Society (Thespians) is encouraged.
 
Utilizing industry standard equipment and editing software, pathway participants experience roles in front of and behind the camera as they produce both narrative and documentary films. Exploring the history of film students will learn about the impact of changing technology and the career opportunities available in the world of film, design, and broadcasting. Students accomplishing the pathway will enter college or the workforce with resume building skills like leadership, presentation ability, writing and design strengths, as well as technical knowledge of film equipment and computing and editing software.

Introduction to Video Production
Year: 9 - 11
RCHS Graduation Requirement: Elective
UC/CSU - G 
Units of study include: Working as a Creative Artist, Exploring Film History, The Language of Film, and Film as Expression. In-class screenings and presentations required (no public screenings).

Advanced Video Production
Year: 10 - 12
RCHS Graduation Requirement: Elective
UC/CSU - G
Prerequisite: Introduction to Video Production 
This “workshop” course includes participation in the pre-production, production, and post-production of multiple mini-documentaries and longer-form short films all leading to the annual Raider Studios Film Festival. Course includes guest speakers, field trips, and competitions. Extracurricular filming and public posting & screenings film work required.
