Flexion: bending of the joint so that the bones of the joint are pulled closer together. During flexion, the angle of the joint decreases. It occurs when muscles contract.
Extension: when the angle of the joint increases. The muscles contract causing the joint to bend to a straight position
Muscles are the only tissue in the body that have the ability to contract and therefore move other parts of the body
The four main functions of muscles are posture, movement, joint stability, and heat generation
Strengthen the muscles and you strengthen the bones/joints
