Parent Letter

Dear Senior Parent:

We are excited to bring you information about River City High School’s graduation!  Included in this letter is all of the information you will need to help you plan for your graduate’s big day.

  • Date:                Wednesday, June 1 2017
  • Time:                7:00 P.M.
  • Location:          Raley Field
  • Report Time:    Seniors are asked to report to the field by no later than 5:30 P.M.
  • Gates Open:      5:30 P.M.
  • Practice:          Tuesday, May 31 at 1:00 P.M. Attendance is mandatory.

Each senior will receive  tickets. All guests above the age of 2 will need a ticket to be allowed entry to the stadium. Tickets will be distributed after graduation practice which will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2017. Practice is mandatory.

No one may enter the stadium before 5:30 P.M.

  • Women – dress or skirt (or dress pants) and blouse, and dress shoes.
  • Men – dress slacks, dress shirts, tie and dress shoes.
  • For all – The following items are NOT acceptable regardless of color, style, newness or cost:  Jeans, tennis shoes, shorts, bathing suits, t-shirts.  Any senior who has a question about appropriate dress should contact an administrator.  Proper dress will be checked as students line up for the ceremony.
  • All school rules with regard to “flashing” colors will be enforced.

All guests must sit in the stands. Parents/guests will not be permitted on the field for any reason. In the past, we have had parents who have come on to the field to attempt to take pictures. Please rest assured that photos of the graduates getting their diplomas will be taken. Parents/guests who attempt to access the field will be asked to return to their seats and may be asked to leave the field entirely.

We wish the ceremony to be dignified and respectful. Toward this end, students may not decorate their robe or mortar. Inflatable items, balloons, and noise-makers are strictly prohibited at the stadium by both graduates and guests. Cell phones on the field are prohibited.

In order to keep our staging area clean, students will not be allowed to bring personal items onto the field. This includes but is not limited to cell phones, purses, food and drink.

We have arranged for the ceremony to be photographeded and all graduates will have a photograph taken as they receive their diploma and again as they exit the stage. You will be contacted by Graduation Foto with the proofs along with the purchase prices.

Students will exit the stadium after the ceremony. You may meet your graduate outside the stadium.

Josten’s is our service provider. All students should already have ordered their caps and gowns. If you have not done so, it is imperative that you contact Josten’s through their website at www.jostens.com or call Pat Cummings at 916-399-6096.

In order to participate in the graduation exercises, students must have completed their graduation requirements, including passing the High School Exit Exam, completing Service Learning on time, and all credit requirements. Students must not have any outstanding debts. Additionally, all disciplinary consequences (detention, suspension, etc.) must be served. Finally, students must have acceptable attendance without excessive tardies. Students who are concerned about their attendance should contact a Vice Principal for an attendance conference.

Please accept our sincere congratulations as your senior prepares to graduate from high school!
