Answers to commonly asked questions.
- Service Learning, formally community service, is a graduation requirement.
- Each year studentswill be required to do 8 hours of service.
- Service Learning is handled by the English department.
- The service must be done for a nonprofit companyor charity group, a school, city or state agency, or a licensed nursing home or daycare.
- All 8 hours should be done for one organization per year.
- You should not miss school to do community service.
- You may work for the same organization for all four years.
- You may not do all 32 hours in one year.
- You may do the hours during the summer before it is due.
- It is considered best practice to have your place of service approved by an English teacher before beginning your service to make sure the place qualifies.
