Journalism Can Have a Profound Impact

The article attached to the link below is a great example of solid journalism having a deeply personal impact on me. The story is about my great uncle who survived Iwo Jima. The News Peg is that the article was published on the 70th anniversary of the U.S. landing on the Japanese occupied island. Not only is it powerfully written, but also very informative with thorough background research. It also has a slideshow and a video clip of my great uncle being interviewed. I have never met my great uncle and I am forever grateful that the journalist at the Berkshire Eagle, Phil Demers, gave us this story.
