The new River City High School opened in January 2009 with a 276,000 square foot campus that serves over 2,000 students. The campus includes five classroom buildings, administration building with large meeting and conference rooms, a black-box theater, video production studio, gymnasium, separate dance and weight rooms, a two-story atrium space and a complete cafeteria/kitchen with an outside courtyard.
Additionally, the campus includes a full array of athletic facilities with a football stadium, baseball/softball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts and soccer fields. Swimming pools and an indoor training facility with a rock-climbing wall is also on site which is shared in a joint-use agreement with the city of West Sacramento. Lead designer Chris Brown led the team of architects from DLR Group, and the general contractor was Turner Construction Company.
